Proposal Form
The Bega Valley Regional Gallery’s (BVRG) Exhibitions
Committee is inviting exhibition proposals and expressions of interest
from practising artists within the South East region for possible
inclusion in the 2009 /10 exhibitions program.
The Committee is looking for, a) proposals of specific
projects that culminate in group or solo exhibitions and, b) portfolios,
documentation of bodies of work or work in progress, that may be
suitable to develop into significant regional exhibitions.
Proposals and relevant information including
up-to-date curriculum vitae and up to 10 x jpeg images can be submitted
electronically to the BVRG at rcameron@begavalley.nsw.gov.au or can be
sent in hard-copy to PO Box 492, Bega NSW 2550.
Proposals are reviewed at the end of February and
again at the end of August each year.
Please note that proposals and portfolios will be
retained by the Gallery for future reference and possible inclusion in
the Gallery program at a later date. Please don’t send original
documents.
Proposals will be assessed by the Gallery’s
Exhibitions Sub-Committee.
The Exhibitions Sub-Committee is comprised of the
Gallery Director, Advisory Committee Chair, South East Arts Region
(SEAR) representative and two prominent local artists on a biennial
rotational basis. When assessing proposals the Exhibitions Sub-Committee
addresses the following criteria:

Is there adequate information to assess the
proposal?

Does an exhibition proposal clearly demonstrate
its intent?

Does the proposal demonstrate artistic excellence,
originality or contextual integrity?

Does the proposal demonstrate a strong curatorial
or rigorous, self-selection process?

Does the proposal promote the cultural interests
of the region?

Will the proposed timing of the project fit within
the gallery’s schedule?

Will the proposal contribute to a balanced
exhibition program?

Will the proposal contribute to the Gallery’s
public programs in the way of talks, demonstrations, etc?
