Alan Watt
Local ceramicist Alan Watt will talk about Les Blakebrough’s work and why he is considered to be a" living treasure".

Wednesday September 10

Megan Bottari
Megan Bottari will discuss her ongoing involvement with contemporary art and glass installation work. Megan won the Kamberra Prize, one of Australia’s important awards for glass art students.

Wednesday October 8

Kathryn Chisholm
Kathryn Chisholm is from the National Museum of Australia and curator of Behind the Lines: The year’s best cartoons. Kathryn will give an in-depth discussion of the exhibition in her floor talk.

Wednesday November 12

Craig Cameron
Local artist Craig Cameron (finalist in the Far South Coast Living Artist Project) will talk about his recent video installation work and show some of his video work.

Wednesday December 3

Sharon Cornthwaite
Local artist and jeweller Sharon Cornthwaite will give a talk on the history of giving jewellery - when and why jewellery is given.

Workshops for kids in the school holidays

Venue: The Annex Space*
Cost: $35
Time: 10am to 3pm

Come and do jewellery and lantern making with artists Sharon Cornthwaite and Sam Bailey. The workshops will be for children between the ages of 7 and 12 years. BYO lunch.

Venue: Sharon’s studio, Gipps Street Bega.
Cost: $75 a day, materials included
Time: 9.30am to 3pm

Come and make your own rings, necklaces or broaches. The workshop can be for 1 or 2 days.

Steve Gill will be holding a drawing workshop focusing on object and figure drawing.

Felting workshop with Tjenka Murray

Venue: The Annex space*
Cost: $60 per child
Time: 10am to 2.30pm

BYO lunch. Cost includes all materials and tuition. Due to popular demand we have more workshops with Tjenka. This is a workshop for children aged 10 to 14 years to make their own felted toy. The children will have a toy to take away at the end of the day

Book early as these classes are always popular and places are limited.

Held on the last Thursday of every month at 6.30pm and featuring various well-known international artists. Enjoy wine and cheese while watching the film, then join in the informal discussion. Danielle Pirrie will introduce each film.
Entry fee is a $10 Gallery donation.

Modigliani is a 2004 biographical film of the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. Set in Paris in 1919, biopic centres on the life of Modigliani, focusing on his last days as well as his rivalry with Pablo Picasso. Modigliani, a Jew, has fallen in love with Jeanne, a young and beautiful Catholic girl. Starring Andy Garcia.

This film is about the life of the 19th century female sculptor Camille Claudel. Famous sculptor Auguste Rodin hires CamilleClaudel as an assistant, but soon she begins to sculpt for herself and for Rodin. She also becomes his mistress. The film is directed by Bruno Nuytten and stars Gérard Depardieu and Isabelle Adjani.

Vincent & Theo is an exploration of the relationship between Vincent van Gogh and his art dealer brother, Theo. The eternal struggle between madness and genius takes its toll on the brothers relationship. The film is a 1990 biographical drama directed by Robert Altman, starring Tim Roth and Paul Rhys.

Chagall: To Russia asses and others. This remarkable film retraces the life and work of the artist Marc Chagall. Much of the narrative is told in his own words, drawn from his autobiography, Ma Vie (My Life) and there is unique film footage of Chagall being interviewed as he paints. An intimate picture of the mischievous painter and his peripatetic life emerges through interviews of the many personalities in the art world which Chagall inhabited.
