►Environment ►Water and Sewerage

Bega Valley Shire Council has made the commitment to
upgrade its wastewater treatment systems through the establishment of
the Bega Valley Sewerage Program (BVSP). BVSP will manage the ongoing
operations of the Shire’s wastewater treatment system and undertake
upgrading of existing infrastructure through:
-
Installing new sewerage systems in the villages of
Cobargo, Wolumla, Candelo, Kalaru and Wallaga Lake; and
-
Upgrading 5 existing sewage treatment plants at
Bega, Tathra, Tura Beach, Merimbula and Bermagui.
BVSP will:
-
maintain compliance with Department of Environment
and Conservation (formerly Environment Protection Authority (EPA))
requirements and enhance environmental outcomes;
-
ensure Council has access to the latest technologies
and/or innovations, and has the ability to introduce these to the
sewerage systems at the appropriate time;
-
maintain and enhance service delivery standards; and
-
ensure the community is well informed about the
Program, and has the opportunity to provide input.
The Program Bega
Valley Sewerage Program is to be carried out by an Alliance between Bega
Valley Shire Council and the private sector. A Joint Venture (JV)
between Tenix Alliance and
Environmental Solutions Limited
(ESI) has been appointed as the private sector partner
with Council. They have formed a company known as TESIB.
Environmental
Resources Management (ERM) will be in a sub-alliance
arrangement with the JV.
