Waste Services

Over the next few weeks look out for your new 2008/09 Waste Collection Services Calendar and a Waste and Recycling Brochure. Accompanying the calendar is information on how you can help to do your bit to reduce waste going landfill along with an update on how plans for our new Bega Central Waste Landfill Facility is progressing.

Stick your new Waste and Recycling Brochure on your fridge as a reference guide for all your questions about waste in your local area. Included in this package will be a brochure on cleaning out household chemical clutter outlining the dates in August 08 this event will happen closest to where you live.

Community Weeds Meetings - June 2008

• 16 June - Candelo Town Hall

• 17 June - Bemboka Hall

• 24 June - Towamba Hall

• 25 June - Cobargo School of Arts Hall

As part of our commitment to work with community weeds groups and other land managers a series of community meetings will be held to discuss weeds management in the coming year and report on the current year’s program.

All meetings will start at 10.00am and finish at 11.00am. Morning tea will be provided.

Weed control program - June 2008

Proposed roadside and public land weed control program. The program is dependent on weather conditions and may be varied according to weed growth. Spot-spraying of weeds may be carried out in other areas as appropriate.

• Broom: Candelo township and Wolumla area.

• Broom and Crofton weed: Pambula and Eden townships.

• Fireweed: Tathra-Bermagui Road, Verona area and Princes Highway north of Cobargo.
