Changed Traffic Conditions – Eden

Construction of the Asling’s Beach Boardwalk will result in changed traffic conditions on Asling’s Beach Road in the vicinity of the Eden Cemetery, during the period 6 July to 30 August 2009. Detours via Lake & Barclay Streets will be in place at intervals during this period.

Weed Control Program - July 2009

Proposed roadside and public land weed control program. Spot-spraying of weeds may be carried out in other areas as appropriate. The weed program is dependent on weather conditions and may be varied according to weed growth.

  • Fireweed: Tanja and Murrah areas, Wolumla area,  Wyndham area, top of Mt Darragh and Tantawangalo Mtn roads.

  • African lovegrass: Tanja and Murrah area,  Tarraganda, Wyndham Lane, part Angledale Road, Mount Darragh Road, Pambula to top of Mt Darragh, part Myrtle Mountain Road, Radium Ridge road;

Development and implementation of a Liquid Trade Waste Management System

As part of its commitment to achieving compliance with the Best Practice Management of Water Supply and Sewerage Guidelines, Bega Valley Shire Council is currently implementing a management system for the discharge of liquid trade waste into its sewerage systems.

The successful consultant will be required to:

  • Undertake initial inspections of commercial premises and provide training to Council’s Scientific Research Assistant in undertaking such inspections.

  • Verify existing data and confirm classification of dischargers according to Bega Valley Shire Council’s Liquid Trade Waste Policy.

  • Advise liquid trade waste customers of their obligations under Council’s Liquid Trade Waste Policy and assist these customers with their applications for approval to discharge liquid trade waste to Council’s sewerage systems including:

    Ensuring that all required information necessary to issue approval has been included with each of the applications received by Council and identify any areas in which these applications do not conform with Bega Valley Shire Council’s Liquid Trade Waste Policy.

    Liaise with applicants and/or request any additional information required to be submitted with their application.

    Determine whether Council should issue an approval.

    Where approval is to be granted, draft the approval and associated conditions as specified in the Department of Water & Energy Liquid Trade Waste Management Guidelines.

  • Determine if there is existing approval to discharge liquid trade waste to Council’s sewerage system and liaise with Council’s Environmental Scientist and/or the Scientific Research Assistant to determine if a new application is necessary.

  • Develop the system for charging liquid trade waste customers within Council’s "Civica Authority" Local Government Information Management System.

A local presence will be required to undertake the work outlined above. Office space will be made available to the successful Tenderer.
