Printmakers’ Exhibition at Gallery
April 28, 2008: The work of 25
artist-printmakers will be the subject of an exhibition entitled 25
X 25 that will open in the Bega Valley Regional Gallery on Friday,
May 2, at 6pm.
The prints were all made in the workshops of
Studio One and Megalo Access Arts in the ACT.
The works reveal the range of media that encompass
the field of printmaking from screen-printing through etching,
lithography, woodblock and linocut printing.
The exhibition was conceived to celebrate Megalo’s
25th year as an open-access print studio in 2005.
The artists were selected to represent Megalo’s
past, present and future.
Each was asked to produce a print, 25 x 25cm
square, on any theme and in the medium of their choice.
A colour catalogue accompanies the exhibition
which includes an account of the history of Megalo and Studio One by
art historian Sasha Grishin.
Everyone is welcome to go along and meet some of
the artists at the opening on Friday, May 2, at 6pm or to visit the
gallery during opening hours until May 31.
Other public programs relating to this show are
the Arts Cafe talk on Wednesday, May 14, at noon and a solar print
workshop on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18.
