Death of Arch McKechnie

May 19, 2008:  Former Bega Valley Shire Councillor, Arch McKechnie, has died in Canberra.

Mr McKechnie, of Wallaga Lake, was elected to the Council in 1987 and served until 1990.

He was Deputy Shire President to Cr Edna Duncanson in 1988 and Council’s representative on the Illawarra County Council.

Mr McKechnie actively campaigned for the interests of caravan park owners over many years, right up until his death last Friday.

He was also involved in tourism promotion and civic activities in Bermagui.

No funeral details are available yet.
