Access Advisory Committee vacancy

June 17, 2008: Bega Valley Shire Council is calling for nominations to fill two vacancies on the Access Advisory Committee until the end of the committee’s current term in June 2009.

The committee provides advice and recommendations across a range of key areas of Council, particularly at the strategic planning level, to improve access across the shire.

The chair of the Access Advisory Committee, Ian Dalwood, says the people that make up the committee are the 'eyes and ears' of the BVSC regarding disability Issues.

"The committee currently is working on several projects including the development of a disability action plan," Mr Dalwood said.

"If you are a person with a disability, a carer, an advocate or represent a broader disability group and have an interest in working with Council to achieve better outcomes regarding access, we would encourage you to apply.

"People considering nominating for the committee can do so by e-mail, fax and post or can hand deliver their nomination to any Council office," he said.

Nomination forms and information packages are available from Council’s social planning co-ordinator, Simon Schweitzer, phone 6499 2375 or e-mail sschweitzer@begavalley.nsw.gov.au
