Council appoints new GM
June 24, 2008: The Bega Valley Shire Council
has appointed a new general manager.
He is Peter Tegart, presently deputy general
manager of the Eurobodalla Shire Council.
The mayor, Cr Tony Allen, said Mr Tegart was well
qualified to lead the Bega Valley Shire into its next phase.
"This is a particularly interesting time for the
shire as we are on the verge of some major developments and
infrastructure changes," Cr Allen said.
"In the recent past we have undertaken an
independent external review of the organisation and acted on many of
its recommendations.
"The Council now has a clear focus in driving the
shire forward.
"Mr Tegart will bring to the general manager’s
role extensive management experience in development, planning and
natural resources; roads and recreation; water and waste management;
community services; strategic planning and design; and commercial
operations.
"He is a Bachelor of Business and holds a graduate
diploma in Work Place Relations. He is working on a Masters degree.
"Mr Tegart is familiar with the Far South Coast
region and his present council has a similar demographic to the Bega
Valley Shire."
Cr Allen said he looked forward to working closely
with the new general manager.
Mr Tegart replaces Graeme Faulkner who resigned in
April for personal reasons.
He is expected to take up his new role with Bega
Valley Shire Council on August 4.
