Mix-up with waste calendar addresses
June 24, 2008: Some of the Bega Valley Shire
Council waste and recycling collection calendars were delivered to
the wrong addresses this week.
New calendars will be mailed within the next two
weeks.
Council’s waste services manager, David Basil,
said the correct material was provided by council to a Sydney
mailing house which made the distribution error.
"There are 10 different calendars for 10 different
areas in the shire, but the mailing house mixed up some of the
addresses," he said.
"This is very disappointing since great care and
multiple follow-up checks were set in place in order to help ensure
that the correct calendars were mailed out.
"The calendars were checked at the local printing
company and the company manager ensured all boxes were clearly
marked and personally double-checked that each box was labelled
correctly just prior to sending the calendars to the mailing house.
"There was a final call to the mailing house floor
manager to ensure that each box was correctly matched with the
appropriate mailing database just prior to the mail out. We were
reassured that the databases would be matched to each box.
"The mailing house has admitted the error and will
be funding a reprint and remail of the calendars within the next
couple of weeks.
"In the meantime, residents should continue to put
their various bins out the same nights as they are doing now," Mr
Basil said.
The correct calendars are displayed on council’s
website,
www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au or phone council on 6499 2222 for more
information.
