October 26, 2009: The Bega
Valley Shire Library will display the recent work of Certificate IV
students from Bega campus of Illawarra TAFE in the foyer exhibition
space during November.
The students have produced a
variety of different format books using techniques explored during
their course - collage, printmaking techniques, drawing and
painting.
The production of the books was in
response to a drawing assignment given to the students by their
teacher Veronica O’Leary.
"The aim was to challenge the
students to use their art making skills to make a book on the town
they live and work in, "Ms O’Leary said.
"Each book offers a different
perspective of Bega. They give an insight into Bega through the eyes
of artists closely observing and researching aspects of the town and
its unique architecture and particular history.
"The artists have explored
textures, fences, architecture and the rural landscape, creating a
unique picture of Bega.
"Each book gives the viewer a
renewed interest in the environment and an appreciation of what is
here in Bega."
The display will start next
Monday, November 2, with the work of two students, Anna Buck and
Janet Collingridge.
Then each week, the display will
change with two more students displaying their work. These are:
-
Monday, November 9: Louella
McPaul and Donna Ransom
-
Monday, November 16: Judith
Thomson and Jane Murphy
-
Monday, November 23: Anneke
Paijmans and Kaz Langenhorst
