Ratepayer Information (pdf 1105b)
Your rates notice
Property owners in the Bega Valley
Shire receive a rates notice at the start
of each financial year. The ordinary rate consists of a base rate
and an ad valorem charge. The base charge of $346.71 for properties
in the residential, business and farmland categories reflects the
cost of providing common services.
The ad valorem charge differs for each category
and is levied on the unimproved land value of a property. This
valuation is determined by the Department of Lands - NSW Valuer
General's Department. You can contact the Valuer General on 1800 110
038 for any queries relating to your land value.

Rate variation approved
Council has been successful in gaining the
Minister's approval for a special rate variation of 6.13% in
addition to the state government 3.20% rate capping. This provides
Council a total rate increase of 9.33% for the 2008-09 financial
year. This variation will provide an overall increase in revenue of
$1,473,070. The revenue increase will provide funding for additional
spending on roads, bridges, footpaths, as well as providing ocean
lifeguard services.
This increase is in relation to the General Rate
only. All service charges are additional charges to the rates
component. more »»»
