New library welcomed by residents
The community has responded positively during the first week of the new Tura Marrang Library and Community Centre.

The community has responded positively during the first week of the new Tura Marrang Library and Community Centre.
Around 150 library members came through the door on Monday and a steady stream have followed every day.
Samantha Fenton, Council’s Library Operations Team Leader said the bright colours and furniture is what first grabs people’s attention.
“Then they go exploring to discover all the different reading and study spaces that have been created and the new and improved resources at their finger-tips,” she said.
The official opening of this million dollar facility is this Saturday, with a fun filled family program between 9:30 and 2pm.
The State’s top librarian will be there to help open the centre at 11am.
Dr Alex Byrne, NSW State Librarian and Chief Executive will cut the ribbon, along with Member for Bega, Andrew Constance and Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Michael Britten.
Face painting, iPad classes, Storytime, craft and a sausage sizzle are all part of the day, along with a visit from Princess Anna from Frozen.

“Locals can also come and choose a book to add to the collection,” Ms Fenton said.
“Council will buy the book on people’s recommendation and add it to the Shire’s ever extending reading resources.”
A one of a kind library bag has also been produced to mark the special occasion.
The Shire map featured on the bag dates back to early 1900’s and has Bermagui spelt “Bermaguee” reflecting the original spelling of the word.
Saturday’s official opening marks a new beginning for this building that started its life as a tavern.
“I am really looking forward to this space becoming part of the community,” Ms Fenton said
“This is the fastest growing area in the Shire, and now Council has a facility that helps the people within it build connections and opportunities.”
Aside from the rich reading and study collection, the Centre also provides a number of places for meetings and gatherings. Meeting rooms and spaces will be available for hire during and after business hours.
“Come along this Saturday and see this amazing place for yourself,” Ms Fenton said.
