Bega Park on Upper Street Bega will soon be lit by eight new heritage lamps in keeping with the feel and history of this important green space.
Work started this week along the pathway that diagonally dissects the parkland.
The job will be completed in time for the upcoming Bega Show on the 16th ,17th and 18th of February when the park becomes central to the movement of people and cars in and out of the neighbouring showground.
Council was able to secure funding for its Activating and Lighting Bega Public Spaces Project from the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department.
The funding will be put to use at two sites in Bega, Bega Park and the Bega Sporting Complex.
The objectives are:
Once the Bega Park lighting upgrades are complete, Council will focus its attention on upgrading lighting at the Bega Sporting Complex.
Areas to be addressed include the carpark area adjacent to the skate Park and netball courts, the main entrance, the existing stadium building, and in the area surrounding the Bega War Memorial.
A local electrical contractor will be used to complete the project.
For more information on the two sites to be funded, please contact Council on (02) 6499 2222.
