A change to the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre management structure has been made to better meet with community expectations.

After 12 months operating under a contracted manager, a move towards direct management has been made in order to improve marketing, and to strengthen ties with the community.

Manager of Community Culture and Information, Simon Schweitzer said the move to direct management came after a year of observation and consideration on how best to run the new facility.

“This is ultimately a building for community use, and it has a lot to offer people hosting or attending events,” he said.

“We also believe that it is important to maintain a direct link with people wanting to discuss any aspect of the facility, from booking enquiries to suggestions on future use, and a direct management approach is well designed for this,” Mr Schweitzer said.

The move to a direct management model will have no impact on existing hire arrangements.

The current management company is contracted until August 2017. All booking, event and facility enquiries should be directed to Venue Management Services until the new management structure is implemented.

Due to contractual obligations no further comment can be made at this time. Council will provide details of the new management structure at a later date.
