How do we access the community engagement strategy on line. I cannot find a link to this on the comments page. I cannot comment on what I cannot find.
Consultation with the community is always a high priority for Bega Valley Shire Council, so Council is now in the process of drafting a Community Engagement Strategy to improve the way it does this and provide the community with greater opportunities to have their say on matters that may impact their lives.
Through effective engagement, Council is better able to understand varied points of view, make informed decisions, and provide services that respond to community needs and aspirations.
The draft Community Engagement Strategy provides a commitment from Council that the community will be well informed about issues and decisions that could affect their way of life and encourages them to make recommendations to BVSC. It clarifies the ways in which the community can have their say and how input will be utilised to inform Council’s decisions and actions.
The draft Strategy also integrates several of BVSC’s legislative requirements for community engagement in the one document. These include requirements under the Local Government Act 1993, and Crown Land Management Act 2016.
A draft Community Participation Plan, that clearly explains how local people can engage with planning matters, forms a subsection of the draft Strategy. This Plan is a requirement of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
We are seeking your feedback on our Draft Bega Valley Shire Council Community Engagement Strategy which includes a Draft Community Participation Plan for planning matters.
