Bega Valley Shire Council is offering five (5) scholarships for young women between 18 and 25 of up to $500 each.
The scholarship aims to encourage young women in the Bega Valley to achieve their goals and to support their valuable contribution to our communities.
Applications can relate to different areas that meet the scholarship aim. For example, arts and culture, environment, business, community, health, sport.
Applications can be for individual initiatives as well as those that benefit others in the Bega Valley and surrounds. The outcome will be announced for International Women's Day (IWD).
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The theme for International Women’s day in 2020 is Each for Equa (#EachForEqual), calling people to action to help forge a better more inclusive, gender equal world. International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the gains women have made over the years and to bring our attention to the issues that still face women all over the world. Most of all, it's a day to recognise that we, as women, have made and continue to make a difference.
IWD scholarship is offered to encourage young women to reach for their goals, whatever they may be and to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution that young women make in our community.
To be eligible young women must:
People of diversity are encouraged to apply – including Aboriginal people, those of diverse gender and sexuality, people of all abilities and people who are experiencing financial hardship.
