Bega Valley Regional Learning Centre (BVRLC) is excited to become the new base of the South Coast Careers College/Adult Ed.

Mayor, Kristy McBain said the collaboration exemplified Council’s drive in purchasing the building and will allow South Coast Careers College to expand its training offerings in the region.

The Bega Valley Regional Learning Centre in Merimbula has developed a strong network of users over its first year of operations,” Cr McBain said.

“The centre has become the ‘go to place’ for cultural training, first aid, professional development workshops, art workshops, drama classes, holiday programs and career qualifications.”

South Coast Careers College/Adult Ed is a Registered Training Organisation and has been offering training to the region for over 30 years.

With high completion rates, supported learning methods and highly skilled trainers, the College has established strong links with the NSW Government and its Smart and Skilled funding package, which offers subsidised training to eligible people to enter, reskill or progress within the workforce.

Learning already in progress includes, Pathways to Nursing, Certificate III in Individual Support and the Tech Savvy Seniors Program. Courses starting soon include Business Pathways, First Aid, White Card short courses, and Certificate II Salon Assistance Program in the Learning Centre’s specialist hairdressing training room.

“Council would very much like to welcome South Coast Careers College to the Learning Centre, we look forward to a long and rewarding relationship offering quality training to the Bega Valley and beyond,” Cr McBain said.
