Monday 7 March 2016

A family trivia night will be held on Saturday 19 March at Merimbula’s Club Sapphire to raise awareness about plastic pollution in our oceans.

The host, Anthony Hill, a Coffs Harbour surfie will bring his love of the ocean and 21 years’ experience of hosting events to the night.

With fantastic prizes, raffles and trivia questions for the whole family it’s sure to be a fun night.  Entry is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 15.

The event has been organised by the South Coast Hub of 1 Millionwomen through concern over widespread plastic litter entering the environment.

Bega Valley Shire Council has given a helping hand to support this initiative by way of providing financial and in-kind support to the campaign under the Waste Community Assistance Programme.

One aspect of the campaign is to get Tathra plastic bag free, the program is the first of its kind for Tathra and the group hopes it will be the catalyst for a Shire-wide program.

If you would like more information or would like to become involved please contact Council’s Waste Services team on 6499 2222.
