The Mumbulla Community Foundation Grants are now open with $122,000 available across the Bega Valley to support local, grassroots initiatives.

The Mumbulla Community Foundation Grants are now open with $122,000 available across the Bega Valley to support local, grassroots initiatives.
In addition to the annual contribution from Bega Valley Shire Council ($25,000), the Mumbulla Community Foundation has obtained additional funding through the Australian Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery (BSBR) program ($80,000) and Global Giving’s Australian Wildfire Fund ($17,000).
Mumbulla Community Foundation Chair, Mick Pryke said the grants aim to help local groups create opportunities and provide invaluable services in the shire.
“We have opened this year's grants round in spectacular fashion by hosting our first community road trip through the Bega Valley last week,” Mr Pryke said.
“We are looking to fund activities for older people, people with a disability, young people, children, families and others in need.
“Projects funded by last year’s grant round included Youth Mental Health First Aid Training to small business owners and their staff in Cobargo, Pambula, Merimbula, Eden and surrounds by the Bega Valley Suicide Prevention Action Network.
“Tathra Community Garden built a shelter which is used for education workshops and demonstrations as part of its community engagement on all aspects of gardening.”
Council’s Director Community, Environment and Planning, Emily Harrison encouraged local not-for-profit and charitable groups to apply.
“These grants are a great opportunity to help projects get off the ground that improve the economic, environmental, social or cultural wellbeing of our shire,” Ms Harrison said.
Mumbulla Foundation and Council have partnered together for more than 20 years to make the Mumbulla Foundation Community Grants available and accessible to the community.
All grant applications must be linked, in some way, to recovery from the Black Summer bushfires or building resilience to future disasters.
To support a range of projects, the Mumbulla Community Foundation Grants will be offering small grants of up to $2,000, larger grants between $2,000 and $10,000, and a small number of grants for larger projects up to $20,000.
