Committees of Council

Committees provide an opportunity for local residents and relevant organisations to contribute to the day-to-day running of Council.

 

Advisory Committees

  • Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee
    A strategic level Committee to provide advice to bring about improvements to access and inclusion issues.
     
  • Affordable Housing Implementation Group
    This group is intended to help implement and monitor progress of the strategy.
     

  • Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
    Provides a forum for communication between all stakeholders such as Council, CEO, Senior Management and Internal and External Audit.

  • Bega Eden Merrimans Aboriginal Liaison Committee
    The Committee is a formal advisory body of Council for the purposes of considering, discussing and advising on the implementation of the MOU between Council and Local Aboriginal Land Council’s.

  • Coast and Flood Management Committee
    The Committee provides a high-level planning and management forum to advise Council on coastal and flooding issues.

  • Bega Valley Disaster Relief Fund
    The fund accepts donations to assist residents who have been affected by natural disasters that have significant community impact.  This is a perpetual fund, and the Committee is responsible for promoting the fund, encouraging donations and corporate sponsorship.

  • Bega Valley Local Emergency Management Committee
    Council facilitates the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) who are responsible for the formation of plans in relation to the prevention of, preparation for, response to and recovery from emergencies in the Bega Valley.

  • Police Liaison Committee
    The Police Liaison Committee is a formal advisory body of Council for the purposes of considering, discussing and advising on public safety matters.

  • Central Waste Facility Community Consultative Committee
    The purpose of the Committee is to exchange information and undertake consultation regarding the operation of the Central Waste Facility.

  • Bega Valley Museum Advisory Committee
    The Bega Valley Museum Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations for developing and creating effective networks and partnerships between Bega Valley Shire museum users and the community.

  • Local Traffic Committee
    The Local Traffic Committee is a technical review committee formed to advise Council on traffic matters that relate to prescribed traffic control devices and/or facilities.

  • Saleyards Advisory Group
    The Saleyards Advisory Group purpose is to guide and support the long-term growth and development of the Bega Saleyards facility.

 

Committees with delegated authority

  • General Cemetery Advisory Committee
    The Cemetery Advisory Committee is a formal advisory body of Council for the purposes of considering, discussing and advising on specific issues related to the management and future direction of Council’s cemeteries.

  • Community Halls Advisory Committee
    The Community Halls Advisory Committee is a formal advisory body of Council for the purposes of considering, discussing and advising on specific issues related to the management and future direction of Council’s Halls.

  • General Sportsground Committee
    The Committee makes recommendations to Council about sportsground management, operations, fees and charges as well as providing advice to upgrade projects at sportsground facilities across the Shire.

  • Montreal Goldfields Committee
    Council appointed the Montreal Goldfields Management Committee to the care and management of the Montreal Goldfields site at its Ordinary Meeting on 22 February 2005.

  • Bega Valley Shire Awards Committee
    The Bega Valley Shire Awards Committee is delegated to make decisions about awards offered by Council based on the guidelines of the awards offered.

  • Bega Valley Grants Committee
    The Bega Valley Shire Grants Committee is delegated to allocate grant funding on behalf of Council.
