Council advises herbicide and pesticide spraying has begun at many of the shire’s open spaces this week, including parks, reserves and sportsgrounds.
Our program of selective herbicide spraying started on Thursday 3 August and will run through September, with additional parkland programs planned through to May 2024. The program aims to control bindii so people can enjoy popular parkland areas.
The sportsground spray program will begin in September and run through to May 2024. This spraying work involves herbicides for broadleaf weeds, pesticides for insects such as black beetles, and growth regulators which encourage lateral growth and aid in nutritional availability.
Information signs will be in place at each site prior to spraying work. All chemicals are applied by trained and certified operators in accordance with the approved product Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
