Update for Barclay Street Recreation Precinct

Works will continue to progress from early-March at the Barclay Street Recreation Precinct in Eden.

23 February 2024

Works will continue to progress from early-March at the Barclay Street Recreation Precinct in Eden.

Local contractors, Bega Bobcats will commence construction on the Central Connectivity Zone on Monday 4 March, with some early works to bring power and water services into the park starting next week.

The Connectivity Zone will unite the new play space and skatepark, providing accessible path connections through the park linking the new car park and facilities up to Aslings Beach Road. The area will include BBQs, picnic tables and shelter, memorial seating and replace the basketball facility.

These works will cause some minor disruptions to the current car parking as the contractor carries out trenching and service installation.

Council staff are also working through final negotiations with the preferred contractor and design team for the car park and access road, noting community feedback on the revised turning circle.

We expect construction for the car park and access road to commence before July 2024 and will keep the community updated as the project progresses.

Council thanks the community for their patience while works are underway.

The Barclay Street recreation precinct upgrade project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and NSW Government.
