Bermagui library to temporarily close for renovations

Bermagui Library will close for renovations from 1pm on Saturday 16 September and a temporary office will be set up at the Bermagui Community Centre to provide a reduced service from Monday 25 September.

Council’s acting Library Services Coordinator, Linda Albertson said the library is expected to fully reopen on Monday 11 December, with a contemporary reception and entrance and a dedicated area for creative endeavours.

“The temporary office will continue to provide many of the usual library services, such as printing and photocopying,” Ms Albertson said.

“We will have a reserve and collect service for access to our extensive catalogue. If you’re not familiar with this service, staff will be on hand to demonstrate how it works or you can call and they will talk you through the process.

“You can also stock up now and return items at any time by using the afterhours returns box, which will be emptied as normal.

“While the works are underway, people will still be able to book meeting room three and the community hall via our website.

“Access to our free WiFi service, the Visitor Information Centre, Four Winds office, Bermagui Historical Society, the Services Australia/Centrelink office and customer parking will be unaffected.

“Our Library Link home delivery service will operate as normal and customers wanting a day out in Bega, Tura Beach or Eden are welcome to use their cards for borrowing from these libraries.”

Ms Albertson said it may be a good time for customers to familiarise themselves with the library’s online services such as BorrowBox and Indyreads.

“These apps allow customers 24-hour access to countless eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines without stepping foot into a physical library and our staff can help customers access these easy-to-use services,” Ms Albertson said.

“Our regular customers love coming to the Bermagui Library and we are excited to say their favourite library will be even better when we reopen.”

This project is co-funded by the Australian and NSW governments. The Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is providing $120,739 through its Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and $192,800 is funded through the NSW Government’s Public Library Infrastructure Grants Program.
