As we head towards Christmas and the new year there will be some temporary changes to several Bega Valley Shire Council services. Firstly, there will be a temporary shutdown of some services for the afternoon on Friday 9 December 2022.

On that day, Council’s Bega front office and all shire libraries will close at 12pm as staff get together to reflect on the past year and recognise some of the achievements that have been delivered.

CEO, Anthony McMahon said it’s important to get Council teams together periodically to share experiences and reflect on how we can continue to improve in how we deliver services to our community.

“Our people don’t often get the chance to all get together, share their experiences and learn from each other which is the intent of our get together this week. We’ve picked a time that we hope minimises interruption to our customers as much as possible,” Mr McMahon said.

“The more we learn about the things we do, the stronger we are as an organisation which enables us to provide the best service possible.

“Some services, like the Sapphire Mobile Preschool and Early Learning Centres in Bega and Eden, as well as our swimming pools, will open as normal.”

Calls to Council on the Friday afternoon will be diverted to the afterhours service.

Council’s Waste Transfer Stations will also close on the day for an internally provided staff development and training session. The Central Waste Facility will remain open for commercial customers.

Further information on which services will close over the Christmas period will be provided in the coming weeks with Council’s main office shutting on the afternoon of Friday 23 December 2022 and reopening on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
