Library law week topics for seniors

Bega Valley Shire Library and Legal Aid NSW are partnering to deliver two important presentations for Seniors during Law Week at Bega library on Friday 19 May.

Bega Valley Shire Library and Legal Aid NSW are partnering to deliver two important presentations for Seniors during Law Week at Bega library on Friday 19 May.

Programs and Partnerships Officer, Scott Baker said that a civil lawyer from the NSW Legal Aid Nowra office will present two free sessions of particular relevance to older people.

“One session will cover Cyber Safety and another session will look at planning for financial security,” he said.

Cyber Safety for Older People starts at 11am and will outline common online scams, how to identify them, as well as offering practical tips on protecting yourself online and how to report scams.

The Planning Ahead: Keep Your Finances and Property Safe presentation starts at 1pm and will cover ways to avoid financial harm, especially from people you might trust and depend upon. This session will also include helping your family financially and moving in with family.

National Law Week runs from 15-21 May and aims to promote public understanding of the law and its role in society. More information is available at www.lawweek.com.au
