Young at Heart films for Seniors Week

Bega Valley Shire Library will be hosting the Young at Heart Film Festival to celebrate Seniors Week during the first week of April.
Programs and Partnerships Officer, Scott Baker, said is the only film festival in the world catering for the young at heart over 60 years old with all the films showcasing older actors in lead roles.
“We are delighted to be able to celebrate the festival locally and offer free screenings across the Shire in partnership with Bega Valley Meals on Wheels Plus,” he said.
Adding to the movie atmosphere, Bega Valley Meals on Wheels Plus will provide complimentary choc tops, jaffas and popcorn, plus some healthy food options.
The Young at Heart festival is now in its 11th year and recognises the best Australian short films starring actors aged 55 and over through the ‘Relay Service’ Short Film Awards presented by National Relay Service.
Local audiences will have the opportunity to vote for the ‘Relay Service’ Audience Award for Best Short Film.
The short films – Venice, Death in Bloom, Sweat, Nulla Nulla, Goodnight Sweetheart, Harvey’s Dream, Imagination Game and The Wonderful - range from drama to black comedy and screenings are captioned for the hearing impaired.
With superb acting talent such as Robyn Nevin, Max Cullen, Colin Friels, Gillian Jones, Wayne Blair and Peter McAllum, the Young at Heart Film Festival is not to be missed.
Young at Heart film screenings will be held at The Toussaint Centre, 101-103 Bega Street, Bega, on Monday 4 April from 1pm to 3pm; Bermagui Library on Tuesday 5 April from 1pm to 3pm; Merimbula Library Portal on Wednesday 6 April from 2pm to 3.30pm; and at Eden Library on Friday 8 April from 1pm to 3pm.
