Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking feedback on its proposal to streamline the shire’s Alcohol Free Zones (AFZs) with the intention of bringing them onto the same schedule.

The proposed cancellation and re-establishment of existing and expired zones follows a review of all Alcohol Free Zones which was resolved by Council at its 17 August meeting.

The proposed changes will enable a more efficient review process and ensure signage can be updated or replaced simultaneously.

Alcohol Free Zones (AFZs) are an early intervention measure to prevent the escalation of irresponsible street drinking to incidents involving serious crime.

Feedback can be provided online on our Have your say webpage, emailed to council@begavalley.nsw.gov.au or in writing addressed to the CEO, Bega Valley Shire Council, PO Box 492, Bega NSW 2550.

The Have your say closes on Friday 28 October.
