Upgrade Lot Stafford Playground to be an all-inclusive play space.
The following scope of works will be delivered at the Lot Stafford Playground site:
Provision of disabled car-parking space adjacent to the Tathra Surf Club.
The overarching purpose of this project is to upgrade the playground to be an all-inclusive play space. The NSW Government (Department of Planning and Environment) have fully funded this project to the tune of $600,000.
The playground is being upgraded in accordance with the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play Guidelines, A Guideline to Create Inclusive Playspaces where play is for everyone in the community.
The guidelines have been designed by the NSW Government to provide councils, schools, landscape architects and the general community with a toolkit to create more inclusive playspaces.
Funding has been provided by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Open Space and Parklands Program.
Total project funding (external) = $600,000
Feedback from the Tathra / Kalaru area in response to the “Understanding Our Place” community engagement process, which subsequently informed the CSP, included “improved recreation facilities and spaces”. This feedback links to CSP Outcome 1 Active and Healthy Communities; specifically the second goal of this outcome of “access to good quality recreation and sporting facilities”.
The Lot Stafford Playground will not be available for use for approximately 2 months (April and May, 2019) while the upgrade is being carried out. Council hopes that the playground will be opened in late May, 2019.
