Bega Valley Shire Council is pleased to support creative activities for our young people in the shire.

If you’re aged between 12 and 24 and have an interest in learning storytelling through radio and podcast, FBi Radio is running four free narrative audio workshops at the Bega Valley Shire Library from 10.30am to 3pm on Thursday and Friday, 18 and 19 January and Monday and Tuesday, 22 and 23 January.

The workshop presenters are FBi radio producer (All The Best), journalist, media tutor and radio producer, Mell Chun and library officer, podcaster, audio trainer and award-winning community radio journalist, Craig Garrett.

Register for the Learn Audio Storytelling workshops via https://begavalley.events.mylibrary.digital/event?id=42033. The workshops are supported by a Create NSW grant.

If your creative interests lie more with graphic storytelling, the Funhouse Studio is hosting a free 3-day Comic & Zine-making workshop for young people aged 12 to 20 years in the SECCA (South East Centre for Contemporary Art) Shirley Hannan Project Space from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 January, 9am to 3pm.

The workshop includes sessions with guest artists from published illustration, character design, graphic storytelling and illustration. Works by participants will be featured in SECCA.

Bookings are essential via https://events.humanitix.com/funhouse-3-day-comic-and-zine-workshop-secca.

In another creative realm, Powerhouse Museum’s Creative Studio, in partnership with TAFE NSW and Regional Futures is giving high school students the opportunity to dive into the basics of content creation and projection mapping technologies.

This immersive 3-day workshop will be held from Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 January in the Bega Connected Learning Centre from 10am to 2pm.

Multidisciplinary artist, Scott Baker will teach attendees how to capture, edit and rig for video projected installations using smart devices and accessible software. Participants will create their own audio-visual works and be introduced to video projection mapping.
