Project Summary/background
Council is delighted to be collaborating with the Bega Chamber of Commerce and South East Arts to launch the free, annual Bega Streetlight Festival on Carp Street.
This springtime evening event features art, food, music, lights, live entertainment, outdoor dining, a photo competition in shop windows and more, celebrating the local community, arts, culture and businesses.
Purpose
Council recognises the importance of community, cultural and business events that provide a platform for our community to come together, connect and collaborate. They build on our sense of place, culture and shared experience, boost economic growth and foster stronger community ties.
The Bega Streetlight Festival aims to establish enduring vibrancy in Bega that supports the community, creative sector and local businesses.

The Bega Streetlight Festival is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

The Bega Streetlight Festival is being delivered in partnership with the Bega Chamber of Commerce and South East Arts.
Connection to Council's Community Strategic Plan
The Bega Streetlight Festival supports the following strategies in the Community Strategic Plan 2042:
- A.1. Collaborate with partners to provide and support opportunities for social interaction, activities and events.
- B.2. Collaborate with relevant parties and industry to promote and support opportunities to diversify and grow our economy and provide local jobs.
- The festival also supports the following elements of Council’s Events Strategy 2024-2028.
Vision: Council and community working together to support and deliver a diverse calendar of sustainable events that showcase what makes our region a great place to live, visit and invest.
Action 4.3: Secure funding to invest in existing and new events and infrastructure to drive our visitor economy in low and shoulder seasons.
