Cemetery charges

Fees and charges for burials, plot reservation and internment within a Bega Valley Shire Council cemetery.

Fees paid to Council at the time of burial will include: burial licence, cemetery maintenance fee, grave marking fee, lawn internment feed excavationn fees.

Pyaments can be made via cheque, cash, EFTPOS, Bpay and creditcard (Visa or MasterCard). Please note that invoices can be paid online.

Fees and Charges explained

  • Perpetual Interment Right: Deposit to reserve a plot for burial or ash interment in Council’s cemeteries.
  • Perpetual Interment Right Adjustment Fee: Difference paid between original Perpetual Interment Right (Burial Licence or Right of Burial) deposit, to current price.
  • Cemetery Maintenance Fee: Covers expenses related to record keeping and/or other administration and for the ongoing maintenance of Council cemeteries.
  • Excavation Fee: Grave digging contractor fee to excavate a grave to single/double depth (with shoring in Eden).
  • Plot Marking Fee: Charges at the time of burial to apply for monumental work or in the case where no monument is erected Council will place a marker at the grave.
  • Lawn Cemetery Fee: For Lawn and Monumental Lawn sections or certain cemeteries, charged for the ongoing maintenance and renewal of lawn sections.
  • Plaque Placement Fee: Charged for the lawn section at the time of burial to cover the contractor cost of placing a plaque.
  • Cemeteries and Crematoria NSW (CCNSW) Levy: Interment services levy applied by the NSW government to fund the cost of Cemeteries and Crematoria NSW (CCNSW). The levy does not apply to interment services for destitute people or for children under 12 years old.

Perpetual Interment Right Fees Fees
Perpetual Interment Right for plot reservations in advance or at need
(formerly known as Burial Licence)		 $565.00
Perpetual Interment Right adjustment fee for all burials with reserved plots. Proof of payment must be produced at the time of burial. Difference of fee already paid to current Perpetual Interment Right fee will be calculated. POA
