Return and Earn bin baskets trial
The Return and Earn bin basket trial has been a great success, with fantastic support from our waste-wise community.
The baskets, attached to selected public litter bins in busy locations across the shire, make it easy for people to separate eligible bottles, cans and cartons from general waste. They also allow others to collect the containers and claim the 10-cent refund through Return and Earn.
Results from the trial show an 83 per cent reduction in eligible recyclable drink containers ending up in landfill bins at participating locations, demonstrating the positive impact of this simple initiative.
By making recycling easier when you're out and about, the baskets are helping reduce litter, recover valuable resources and keep our streets, parks and beaches cleaner for everyone.

How to use our Return and Earn bin baskets
Leave your eligible bottles and cans in our bin baskets when you are out and about.
OR
Collect any eligible drink containers left in our bin baskets and recycle them for a 10c refund at your nearest Return and Earn Station.
