Return and Earn bin baskets across the shire
Bega Valley Shire Council is trialling 20 ‘Return and Earn’ wire baskets that will be attached to selected public bins in busy areas across Bega, Merimbula and Eden.
Starting Monday 3 November, the six-month trial aims to reduce litter, keep waste out of local landfill and encourage more recycling across the community.
The baskets are attached to public bins, making it easier for people to dispose of their eligible bottles, cans and cartons responsibly. Others are then free to collect them for the 10c refund through Return and Earn.
These baskets are a simple reminder to recycle when you’re out and about — helping keep our streets, parks and beaches clean.
Baskets will be installed at popular public sites across the shire, including:
Bega
- Carp Street, in front of Mission Australia
- Carp Street, in front of KFC
- Carp Street in front of In The Mix Bakery
- Littleton Gardens
- Gipps Street, next to the bus stop
Eden
- Cocora Beach
- Aslings Beach carpark
- Imlay Street, in front of the Post Office
- Imlay Street in front of Pickles

Merimbula
