Rates information 2025-26
Your rates support a variety of Council services, including the construction and maintenance of local roads and bridges, as well as facilities such as swimming pools, boat ramps, libraries, and sporting fields. Our Delivery Plan has a full list of what you can expect from Council this year.
Your 2025-26 Rates and Charges Notice show the amount payable for your property, made up of the general rates (ad-valorem and base) and charges for the delivery of water, sewer, waste and stormwater services. General rates – residential, business or farmland
Some of the services included in the general rates are:
- Early education services
- Road and bridge maintenance and construction
- Biosecurity services
- Environmental health and building services
- South East Centre for Contemporary Art and Civic Centre
- Development assessment, planning and support services
- Community engagement, economic development and tourism support
- Compliance and ranger services
- Environment and sustainability
- Community halls and cemeteries

- Aquatic and leisure facilities, lifeguards, playgrounds, playing fields and reserves

Water and Sewer access charges
- Water access charges - This applies to all properties, including vacant land, that are either connected to or located within 225 metres of a Council water pipe.
- Sewer access charge - This applies to all properties, including vacant land, that are either connected to a Council sewer main or within 75 metres of one.

Waste management charge
This applies to all occupied assessments to cover the costs associated with waste management services, including the operation and maintenance of transfer stations and landfills, implementation of waste minimisation programs, and rehabilitation of legacy landfill sites.
Domestic waste collection and waste service availability
Each eligible property receives a domestic waste collection service based on its location and type, with charges covering disposal, processing, and recycling costs. Vacant land is subject to a waste service availability charge if collection is available, even if not used.
Commercial properties are charged one commercial waste management charge per rate assessment.
