The objectives of this flood study are to improve understanding of flood behaviour, its impacts and to better inform management of flood risk to future development in the study area.
The community of Tura Beach NSW is located immediately north of Merimbula NSW and east of Sapphire Coast Drive. Flooding in the study area originates from overland flow paths forming east of Saphire Coast Drive, flowing downstream through natural and modified watercourses towards the Tasman Sea.
The hydrologic modelling methodology employed is the rainfall on grid approach, which is undertaken within TUFLOW software, avoiding the need for a separate hydrologic model to be established. Flood modelling for this study is consistent with the most recent version of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) Version 4.2. Where possible, this assessment is consistent with guidance included in the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (DPE, 2023).
