Streetlight renewal works scheduled for Merimbula bridge

On display until 21 December 2025, 12:01 AM

21 October 2025

Bega Valley Shire Council advises streetlight renewal works will be carried out along Merimbula bridge on Market Street from Wednesday 22 October to Wednesday 19 November, weather permitting.

Essential Energy will replace six existing lights as part of ongoing maintenance to improve lighting safety and reliability.

The footpath will also be replaced with a reinforced concrete slab designed to support the new lights.

Works will take place between 7am to 5pm each weekday.

Changed traffic conditions will be in place for the duration of works, including a reduced speed limit to 40km/h.

Sections of footpath will also be closed for the duration of the works, however pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained.

Traffic control will be on-site to assist road users and pedestrians, temporarily stopping vehicles to allow pedestrians to cross safely to the opposite side of the road.

Road users and pedestrians should expect minor delays.

Council thanks the community for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
